About

An independent voice for clients in Japan.

Abundia Advisory is an independent advisory boutique that walks quietly alongside leaders at the inflection points of a business. The name Abundia traces back to the Latin root of abundance — fullness, plenty, an opening of possibility. It expresses our intent to be a thoughtful partner at the moments when a business needs its richest judgment.

The value of a boutique lies in being deeply involved in a small number of mandates. We hold the individual context, ownership history, and the personal weight of a leader's decision — the kind of texture that a large organization cannot always carry — and support both the transaction and the underlying business decision. That, we believe, is where an independent advisor stands.

Founder & CEO

Career began at NIWS Co., HQ Ltd. — a joint venture between Nomura Research Institute and IBM Japan — building analytics and systems for equity portfolios and real-estate data using SQL, R, and Python. After roughly four and a half years at PwC Aarata (now PwC Japan) in audit and internal-controls advisory, joined PwC Advisory LLC's Deal Advisory practice in 2013, then EY Strategy and Consulting (Strategy and Transactions) in Tokyo, accumulating around ten years in M&A advisory across both firms; final title: Senior Manager. Subsequently established the Abundia Advisory practice and currently operates under Abundia Advisory LLC (Abundiaアドバイザリー合同会社).

Mandates have spanned acquisitions and divestitures, share exchanges and transfers, business transfers, mergers, demergers, joint-venture formation, business restructuring, PFI projects, real-estate-related acquisitions including hotels, and M&A targeting real-estate asset-management companies — across both domestic and cross-border situations. Functionally, the focus covers financial advisory (FA), business and equity valuation, business plan review, and financial due diligence, extending into SPA review, negotiation support, structuring support, and post-closing integration advisory across the full deal lifecycle.

Clients include domestic and overseas corporates, government, and PE funds. Recent engagements include financial-modeling support for a PE fund's LBO refinancing of an elderly-care business, an MBO of a domestic aircraft-maintenance company, a PE fund's acquisition of a Japanese hotel asset, and a Japanese trading house's new-share subscription in an Australian rail company; equity valuation and litigation support for minority-shareholder protection in an MBO; buy-side advisory (negotiation support, financial DD, valuation) for a Japanese manufacturer's acquisition of a UK business owned by a US fund; price-adjustment dispute response (working capital and net debt) and opinion-letter support for a PE divestiture; financing structuring and bankability hearings for a US PE fund's investment in battery-storage (BESS) assets in Japan; MBO advisory for the owner of a domestic retail-electricity business; market-entry studies and modeling for chemical recycling and Li-ion battery reuse; and DD and valuation for solar-PV acquisitions, among others.

U.S. CPA, CFA Level 3 candidate. Master's degree in Finance from Waseda Business School (Graduate School of Business and Finance, Waseda University). Served as teaching assistant in Equity Portfolio Management and Spatio-Temporal Statistics in the school's evening MBA program.

Building on early-career experience in data analytics and teaching, integrates quantitative work in R and Python into M&A and management analysis, and actively applies AI to workflow productivity. Based in Tokyo and Yamanashi.

Principles

How we work.

Depth over breadth

Quality over quantity. Rather than running many engagements in parallel, we commit to a small number of mandates and attend to both their detail and structure.

Independent vantage

Free from the constraints and conflicts of large organizations, we offer judgment grounded in each client's specific context.

Judgment as product

What we sell is not time or deliverables, but the quality of the most important judgments a leader will make.
